LA CROSSE (WRN) - A La Crosse woman has pleaded insanity in an apparent plot to kill her ex-boyfriend. 40-year-old Kimberly Finch entered the plea to a charge of attempted homicide, and a psychiatrist is trying to determine if she was mentally ill at the time. Finch reportedly called La Crosse Police and county dispatchers in early November to say she was going to find her 50-year-old ex-boyfriend and stab him to death. Officers found a large knife in her purse when they arrested her. Finch told police her boyfriend previously abused her and threatened to kill her children – and she was angered by a sentence in a previous domestic case which involved the couple. She’s due back in court January 6th. For now, she’s being held under a $5,000 bond.
