WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) The City of Wausau is recalling 10 laid off workers in the Department of Public Works. They were laid off two weeks ago because of the city's cash shortage. Since then all five of the city's unions have agreed to delay cost-of-living increases in 2010.

The laid-off workers are back on the job now to help with snow removal. The city says the recall is expected to be permanent.

The Public Works Department says it needs the workers back immediately to help salt and plow the roads after the first significant snowfall of the year. The workers returned yesterday morning.
