WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau suddenly has a vacancy on its city council. City officials say they've recived a formal letter of resignation from Council Member Steve Foley.
He has reportedly moved from the area, after his bank foreclosed on his family's restaurant in Rothschild.
Foley did not attend Tuesday's council meeting, and he has not been in contact with City Hall. Neighbors say there was a moving truck and a for sale sign outside his home on Sherman Street. A family friend says they moved to Florida. However, Foley's resignation letter says, "I look forward to continued involvement in the city and surrounding area."
The city council can make an appointment to fill the seat until the spring elections in April.
