WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Landlords who own property in Wausau but live outside of the area must register a local agent with the city under a series of ordinance changes the City Council passed Tuesday.
The Council approved the changes 10-1 with alderman Ed Gale voting against them.
The changes will make it easier for the city to serve landlords with legal papers rather than incur the time and expense of tracking them down.
Local agents must live in Marathon County or own a full-time business in the city.
The ordinance changes also ban residents from parking unregistered vehicles or those with expired registration on their property. They also prohibit residents from stripping, dismantling or otherwise working on junk vehicles.
