WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A decision on Wausau’s garbage contract is being postponed by a few days to give haulers enough time to submit their proposals.
Bids were due Wednesday with a final City Council vote by Friday. But the city now says bids are due next Monday and the Council could take action next Tuesday.
Many haulers likely didn’t receive the updated paperwork until Friday or Saturday, said city planner Joe Pribanich. They would have been crunched for time to get the bids in by mid-week, he said.
The city re-opened the contract last week after a Rhinelander company wanted to raise its $15 million bid by a couple million dollars. Northern Waste refused to sign the contract unless it got the higher price.
