WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A Madison developer wants Wausau to rezone a 4.5 acre block of land at 17th and Stewart Avenues to make room for a new Walgreen’s.
The city’s Plan Commission will hold a public hearing at 5:15 p.m. on the request from Flad Development and Investment Corporation.
The rezoning will provide more convenient setback and parking requirements for the project.
Under the plan, Flad would demolish the former Hollywood Video store but keep the former CTL industrial equipment and supply company building.
The store would be built in time for a September 2011 opening, city officials say.
If it’s approved, it would be the third Walgreen’s in the area. The other two Walgreen’s are at 1st Avenue and Bridge Street in Wausau and at Schofield Avenue and Business 51 in Weston.
