STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) Wausau's former community development director has accepted a similar job in Stevens Point.
Mayor Andrew Halverson announced the hiring of Mike Morrissey, who retired from his job in Wausau a year ago. He'll start in Stevens Point in December, when John Gardner retires. The hiring still needs to be approved by Stevens Point's personnel committee.
Morrissey had been involved in a controversy over credit card misuse. When Wausau's housing director Wendy Jaserda was fired for unauthorized credit card charges, she claimed that Morrissey had also misused his city-issued credit card. A city investigation found no wrongdoing - his credit card charges were ruled to be allowable expenses. Jasurda's lawsuit also accused Morrissey of creating a hostile work environment.
