IOWA CITY, Iowa (WSAU) – Wausau school Superintendent Steve Murley is a finalist for a superintendent job in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Iowa City Community School District named Murley and two other finalists to replace retiring superintendent Lane Plugge, school board president Patti Field confirmed today.
Each finalist will spend a day in the district between Tuesday and Thursday to meet with different groups and undergo a final interview with the school board, Field said.
The school board could make a contract offer when it meets Sunday April 25th.
Field did not know when Murley specifically applied for the job. But she said the district began its search in February.
Murley has battled a multimillion dollar budget deficit and strained relations with the teachers union in the last year. The union voted no confidence in Murley in December.
