(East Lansing, MI) -- Five men vying for a GOP nomination this August exchanged verbal jabs in East Lansing last night during the first debate involving Republican contenders for governor. Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder accused state Attorney General Mike Cox of not understanding "the American dream," while Snyder has been criticized for the outsourcing of work done by Gateway computers, where he served as CEO. Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Holland Congressman Pete Hoekstra and state Senator Tom George all touted their plans for reforming the tax code and improving conditions for businesses. Recent public polling has shown Hoekstra with slight leads over Cox and Snyder.
