UNDATED (WSAU) Former state Commerce Secretary Dick Leinenkugel is running for U.S. Senate. He'd resigned his post in the Doyle administration last month. He'll run as a Republican to challenge incumbent Russ Feingold.
Leinenkugel, a former U.S. Marine, is the third Republican challenger in the race. He'll face a likely priary against Madison real estate developer Terrence Wall and Watertown business leader Dave Westlake.
Leinenkugel has a name-recognition advantage because of his family's beer business. But polls show only former Governor Tommy Thompson has a political advantage over Feingold. Thompson decided earlier this month that he would not get into the race.
