KENOSHA, Wis (WSAU) Chrysler makes its plans to close an engine plant in Kenosha official. That will cost the region about 575 jobs.
Chrysler had actually said for more than a year that it would shut the plant down at the end of 2010. The closing date will be on or near October 8th.
Another plant in Ohio is being closed. A Chrysler spokesperson says workers at the two plants will be offered jobs in another plant in the Detroit area. When the plant-closing decisions first became public last year it triggered anger against the carmaker -- in part, because it was accepting bailout funds from the federal government at the same time.
