Magic Johnson Is Interested In Buying Into A Group That Might End Up Being The New Owners Of The Detroit Pistons

by

Karl Malone and Scottie Pippen highlighted the 2010 class inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame last night. Malone and Pippen were both members of the original "Dream Team," the 1992 U.S. Olympic squad that easily won a gold medal in Barcelona. That entire team, along with the 1960 U.S. men's Olympic squad, were also inducted along with Lakers owner Jerry Buss and former NBA players Dennis Johnson and Gus Johnson.

Meanwhile, you can reportedly add the name of Magic Johnson among those interested in owning at least a piece of the Pistons, who are up for sale by Karen Davidson. Johnson, a successful businessman and Lansing native who helped lead Michigan State to the 1979 NCCA Championship, told NBA.com that some people who he wouldn’t name had made contact and wanted to know if he had any interest in being part of a group that would own the Detroit franchise. Among the apparent front-runners to buy the team is the Mike Illitch family.
