Shia LaBeouf And John Hillcoat Consider 'Triple Nine'

Shia LaBeouf And John Hillcoat Consider Triple Nine

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf is considering joining crime drama Triple Nine, from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind producer Steve Golin. John Hillcoat, director of bleak survival tale The Road and equally bleak western The Proposition, is also being considered to direct. Warner Bros is in talks to pick up the thriller, which was scripted by actor Matt Cooke.

Triple 9, which refers to the police code that indicates when an officer needs immediate assistance, is about a group of crooked cops who must shoot one of their own to get away with a heist. They choose an "upstanding young officer"" as their victim. While LaBeouf is an obvious choice for the "good cop" lead, it would be interesting to see him stretch his dramatic muscles and take on a villainous role. Plus, it would be a good way to take advantage of how much people dislike him.

LaBeouf will next be seen in theaters in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, which is due in theaters September 24th. He's also filming the third Transformers film, which recently moved production to Gary, Indiana. John Hillcoat will also be busy this year, getting back in the the saddle to shoot new western The Revenant. So unless the studio goes a different direction with its principles, don't expect to see Triple Nine until 2012.
