WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A big crowd of runners will be in downtown Wausau for Central Wisconsin's first Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure 5-K. The event starts at 9am Sunday. There's a fun-run and walk right after the race.
Organizers had hoped for a-thousand runners, since the event is new to the area. They have over 16-hudnred, and expect 2-thousand by race day. There is on-site registration starting at 7am Sunday on the 400-block downtown.
It costs 30-dollars to participate, and many runners are sponsored by donations from others in the community, Money raised goes to breast cancer research.
If you are driving in Wausau on Sunday morning, expect street closures. Most of the area will reopen for cars after 10am.
