WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau and Marathon County hold a meeting this afternoon on merging their human resources department. The proposal was first recommended by a city consultant in 2008. The short-term savings would be minor. Those savings would be larger in the future as both groups work together for recruitment and employee benefits/

Any merger agreement would still need the approval of the full county board and the city council.

Wausau and Marathon County have already combined their Parks & Recreation Department.
