WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl complained on Thursday that Democratic efforts to overhaul U.S. healthcare would give Washington too much control over the healthcare system.
"There are some fundamental differences between us here that we cannot paper over," Kyl told fellow congressional leaders and President Barack Obama at the White House healthcare summit.
"We do not agree about the fundamental question about who should be mostly in charge," Kyl said. "There's so much in the bills that you've supported that puts control in Washington. We have a very difficult time supporting those provisions."
