ANTIGO, Wis. (WSAU) – A Wausau company has doubled the reward fund for information leading to the arrest of the driver who hit an Antigo bicyclist then drove off this week.

Major Industries matched the original $5,000 in the fund because “we're hoping that entices either someone who witnessed the event or anyone that might have information about the incident to come forward,” said operations director Jeff Voigt.

The development comes as doctors at Aspirus Wausau Hospital upgraded 26-year-old Tim Wissbroecker from critical to serious condition.

“When you get a criminal act against someone that's part of your family, you want to do something about it,” Voigt said, explaining that Wissbroecker has worked at the small business for two years as a design drafter.

The Langlade County sheriff's department believes a driver in a Honda SUV hit Wissbroecker as he was riding five miles west of Antigo on Highway 64 on Monday. The driver took off and may have stopped at a bar to ask for directions.

Anyone with information about the case should call police at 715-627-6411.
