WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – The Wausau school board has hired former Stevens Point Superintendent Steven Johnson to serve the district as interim superintendent.
School board president Michelle Schaefer says Jjohnson will serve the district until August if they do find a Superintendent, and until the end of the year if they don't. She doesn't seem him staying around on a permanent position however. “We are not looking to hire the interim superintendent, we're looking for a long term replacement from the search firm.”
That search firm reported to the district at it's meeting today that they now have 20 applicants for the position, with 15 to 20 more that say they're interested.
Johnson will be serving as a day to day employee of the district, making $608 per diem.
