MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau’s jobless rate increased in June just like it did in every other metro area in Wisconsin as more students finished school and entered the job market.
The local unadjusted jobless rate for the Wausau metro area rose from 8.2 percent in May to 8.7 percent in June. In the city itself, the rate increased from 11.7 percent to 12.3 percent.
The state workforce development department also reported higher unemployment rates in surrounding counties like Lincoln, Clark, Portage and Wood.
