WAUASU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Police Department is investigating a house fire as a possible arson now.
Officials responded to a fire at 1019 S. 4th Avenue on August 29th around 4am. The building houses an upper and a lower apartment. The tenants of the lower apartment, which includes three young children, were able to escape the fire. Those who live in the upper apartment were not home at the time of the fire.
Police believe the fire was caused intentionally at a common entryway to both apartments. A suspect was seen at the time of the fire running from the back of the building by one of the residents. They believe this house was targeted by are unsure why at this time.
The suspect is described as a lighter-skinned male, with a slim build in his mid 20’s or mid 30’s, with very short hair of bald, clean shaven, and wearing glasses.
