UNDATED (WSAU) – The latest Democratic candidate for the US House in Wisconsin ran unsuccessfully as a Republican for a House seat in Texas four years ago.
Joe Reasbeck of Iron River is challenging State Senate Democrat Julie Lassa of Stevens Point in a primary for the House seat being given up by long-time Democrat Dave Obey of Wausau.
But according to the Associated Press, Reasbeck staged a 2006 Republican write-in campaign for the Texas House seat held by Tom DeLay.
Reasbeck got 89 votes in a contest won by Democrat Nick Lampson.
When DeLay’s name was taken off the ballot, Reasbeck and other GOP hopefuls were listed as independents.
But the AP said the party identified Reasbeck as a Republican in federal documents.
