Prosecutors: Woman Tried to Drown Son, Grab Officer's Gun

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Prosecutors say a Milwaukee woman tried to drown her 2-year-old son in a hotel bathtub, and tried to grab a police officer’s gun from his holster. 22-year-old Tiffany Jones is charged with attempted homicide and trying to disarm an officer.

Authorities said Jones held her son underwater in a bathtub at the Baymont Inn in Glendale last Wednesday – and she apparently thought the boy was dead when a guest in the lobby took the child, and the mother ran outside wearing just a bra. The guest cared for the toddler until paramedics could arrive.

Police said Jones was then running in traffic when an officer ordered her to drop to the ground, and she allegedly went for his revolver instead. Jones told investigators she has bi-polar disorder, and was trying to drown herself as well as her son. Police say the boy remains hospitalized, and he’s expected to recover.
