MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) – A 45-year-old man whose body was pulled from railroad tracks in Marshfield likely committed suicide, police said this morning.

A Canadian National railroad employee called police just before 11 p.m. to report that workers on an eastbound train saw the body on the tracks.

“We can tell you that the incident at this point in time would appear to have been suicidal in nature. It appears as though the man’s death was a result of his own personal actions,” said police Chief Gary Jepsen.

Jepsen refused to release the exact cause of death and said police are not immediately identifying the man. He said the man is from Marshfield.
