MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Public defenders have filed an appeal in a high-profile murder case in Manitowoc County. 

Steven Avery was convicted in the 2005 killing of Teresa Halbach. Also convicted was Avery's nephew Brendan Dassey.

Avery's lawyers base the appeal on 3 issues...the defense questions the use of one search warrant for repeated searches of Avery's mobile home, the defense was never allowed to accuse others in the case and they question an alleged improper dismissal of a juror. 

The state of Wisconsin has 45 days to respond.
