(Wixom, MI) -- Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and House Speaker Andy Dillon verbally sparred at times again during their final scheduled gubernatorial primary debate on Monday. Bernero referred to Dillon as "speaker of the mess" in the Legislature, and accused Dillon of outsourcing jobs while working in the private sector. Dillon fired back that the unemployment rate has doubled in Lansing and manufacturing has declined under Bernero's leadership. The debate was taped and aired by Detroit Public Television station WTVS at its suburban Detroit studios in Wixom. Bernero said that Dillon wants a promotion to fix problems that he took part in. According to Dillon, his combination of private and public sector experience makes him uniquely qualified for the state's highest elected office. Four of the five Republican gubernatorial hopefuls hold their final debate at Oakland University in Rochester on July 12. The primary election is on August 3rd.
