Tomas Holmstrom scored the game-winning goal late in the third period, as Detroit edged the Flames 2-to-1 last night in Calgary. Pavel Datsyuk also scored for the Red Wings, who have won three in a row and now lead the Flames by three points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Jimmy Howard made 22 saves for Detroit. The Red Wings are off now until Friday when the play at Edmonton and then finish up the three game western swing at Vancouver Saturday night.
