Wausau, Wi (WSAU) The Antigo Red Robins came up short at the Boys State Basketball Tournament on Thursday dropping their opener with Appleton East 54-46. The other D-1 quarterfinals saw Madison Memorial top Neenah 58-41, Milwaukee Marquette beat Milwaukee hamilton 48-43 and Hartland Arrowhead ripped Verona 64-34.

The D-4 semi-finals had randolph beat Royall  63-35 and Green Bay NEW Lutheran knock off Clayton 64-63

The Wausau Newman and Wittenberg/Birnamwood Girls advanced in Sectional action Thursday night. The Cardinals scored more points from the foul line than the field in a 43-35 win over Rapids Assumption while the Chargers used 13 points from Ashley Backes in the final 1.41 of the game in a 54-52 win over Medford. Newman will play Marion on saturday in Waupaca while Witt/Birn will face Altoona in Chippewa Falls
