WAUSAU (WSAU) We told you last week about Hailey Thompson, a 16-year-old kayaker from Stevens Point who was among the contestants for the U.S. National Team. The time-trials were held over the weekend at Wausau's whitewater park.

Hailey finished first in the women senior canoe competition, meaning she has bragging rights as the top female canoer in the country. She'll compete in the Senior World Cup in Europe later this summer.

And she qualified for the U.S. women’s junior kayaking team, and will compete in the junior world championships in France in three months.
