MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) The National Transportation Safety Board is out with its report on a deadly plane crash near Marshfield from last year. Investigators say pilot error is to blame. They say 36-year-old Heath Van Handel didn't maintain adequate speed while flying at low altitude. That caused his engine to stall.
Van Handel was observing wildfires and relaying information to D-N-R crews on the ground when he crashed in a wooded area on April 8, 2009.
