UNDATED (WSAU) The Badger State Winter Games will be back in Central Wisconsin in 2011, even though they won’t get funding from the Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The C-V-B dropped funding last year, after complaining that a growing number of event venues were in other parts of the state. They also said more athletes were making day-trips to compete, and weren't staying in area hotels.
Badger State Games officials tell W-S-A-W television that they'll be back in the Wausau area next winter because they group has ties with the community and local sports clubs. They games are looking for alternate funding sources.
