WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – West side Wausau residents will vote in a different location today.
The city has temporarily relocated the polling site that had been at the Rose Garden to the River Drive complex. The change was made Republican congressional candidate Sean Duffy’s campaign booked the Rose Garden for its election night party.
City clerk Kelly Michaels said the Rose Garden notified the city of the event in late July. The City Council approved the temporary relocation in August.
City officials mailed out notices to nearly 1,200 households telling them about the change, Michaels said. She said signs at the driveway entrances to the Rose Garden and on the building's doors will also notify voters who may have forgotten about the change.
Voters in the city's 10th and 11th aldermanic districts have voted at the Rose Garden since 2006, when the city consolidated its 12 polling places into six. Prior to the consolidation, some voters had cast ballots at the River Drive complex, Michaels said.
