WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau city department-heads are being told to cut nearly a quarter-million dollars from next year's budget. The city's finance committee wants to lower the proposed tax increase from 23- to 8-cents per-thousand of assessed value.
The finance committee will review those cuts at is next meeting, scheduled for November 16th. A week earlier, there will be a public hearing on the city's spending plan.
The city budget needs to be finalized by the city council by the end of the month. If the cuts are approved, the mill rate would be 8.49-per-thousand.
