WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Police have arrested a man who was involved in a one-car crash on Highway 51 on Friday that damaged some road signs and a guardrail.

Police report say 37-year-old Steven Konitzer of Fredonia failed to negotiate the exit ramp at Highway 52. His car went into the ditch between the ramp and the highway. Police say he either pushed or drove his car out, and left the scene.

A short time later police received a call from the McDonalds on Stewart Avenue of a man acting suspiciously. Police say Konitzer was was inhaling the fumes from an aerosol can. Officers questioned him, and noted damage to his car. He was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, inhaling an illegal substance, and for a probation violation from Ozaukee County.
