The Detroit Tigers announced on Monday that they have resigned shortstop Jhonny Peralta to a 2-year contract, with a club option for 2013. The contract is worth $11.25 million guaranteed. Peralta joined the Tigers midway through the 2010 season after being acquired from the Cleveland Indians. With the signing of Peralta and third baseman Brandon Inge earlier in the offseason, the Tigers have secured the left side of their infield for at least the next 2 seasons. President, CEO, and General Manager David Dombrowski and Peralta talked with other media members during a conference call Monday morning.
