The Detroit Tigers formally announced Friday the signing of free agent relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit. The two sides agreed to a 3 year $16.5 million contract for the 33 year old Dominican Republic native. Pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays last season, Benoit had a career low 1.34 ERA in 63 appearances.
