NEW YORK (Reuters) - The winless Buffalo Bills traded running back Marshawn Lynch to the Seattle Seahawks for undisclosed draft picks, the team said Tuesday.

Lynch, Buffalo's first overall pick in the 2007 draft, has been signed to boost Seattle's running game which is among the worst in the NFL this season.

"Marshawn has worked hard and played hard for us this season and we certainly appreciate his efforts," Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said in a statement.

"We are constantly evaluating our personnel and feel that this is a good move for our team's future."

In 45 games with the Bills, Lynch rushed for 2,765 yards and 17 touchdowns as well as 670 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The 24-year-old running back, who had fallen out of favor with Bills fans after pleading guilty to a traffic violation in 2008 and a misdemeanor gun charge in 2009, was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2008.

The Seahawks, whose team rushing offense ranks 25th in the 32-team league, are entering their bye week and will play their next game on October 17 against the Chicago Bears.
