Mueller Convicted in 2009 Murder

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Fond du Lac County man is headed to prison, possibly for life, for killing his girlfriend and then dumping her remains into a frozen lake. Brandon Mueller is accused of strangling Renee Redmer in January 2009, burning her body and then disposing of the remains through the ice on Lake Winnebago.

Mueller denied murdering her, claiming Redmer suffered a seizure. District Attorney Dan Kaminsky says when the jury heard Mueller testify on his own behalf it removed any hint of doubt.

"His attempt to testify was the only option he had to get out of first-degree. It was just too little, too late," Kaminsky said.

Mueller's mother and her friend are also serving time for helping Mueller dispose of the body.
