The Lions yesterday held their first workout of their bye week and quarterback Matthew Stafford was practicing, saying he’s getting close to 100% after missing the last five games with a right separated shoulder, his throwing shoulder, which he hurt in Detroit’s season opener against the Bears.
Stafford heaved a pass about 70 yards to show everyone he’s back and he’s expected to start when Detroit hosts the Redskins at Ford Field on Halloween. The Lions yesterday beefed up their depleted linebacker corps by signing free agent Bobby Carpenter.
The 28-year old Carpenter was a first round pick of the Cowboys out of Ohio State back in 2006 and was with Dallas for four years. This season, he played five games with Miami before being released by the Dolphins on Monday.
