Will different mean a better defense for Detroit this season? We’ll find out starting Sunday in Chicago, where the Lions will have just three of their 11 starters on defense who played in game one a year ago. Overall, only six of the 25 defensive players on the roster remain from the beginning of the 2009 season.
And youth is being served with the average age of the starters on defense at 26.1 years, which is two years younger than a year ago. Detroit is definitely counting on their offense to carry the load this season and it shows with 17 of the 25 players who were on the offensive roster to begin last season still around to take on the Bears this weekend.
The N-F-L season opener is tomorrow night in New Orleans, where the Saints host the Minnesota Vikings.
