SAN BRUNO, Calif. (WTAQ) - Firefighters have fully contained the fire that erupted at the San Francisco suburb of San Bruno Thursday night after a massive natural gas explosion.

California Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado says firefighters are still hunting for a few hotspots amid the charred remains of dozens of homes.

Maldonado said the investigation continues into the cause of Thursday night's thundering explosion, but noted the state is doing what it can to help the victims of the blaze. He remarked that the fees for replacing important documents like drivers' licenses and birth certificates will be waived for the victims.

He added the PG&E utility company has agreed to provide people affected by the blast with temporary housing, food, clothing and other essential needs. Maldonado said 38 homes were destroyed by the explosion, 7 sustained moderate damage, and the death toll remains at 4.
