CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Chippewa County man is scheduled to enter pleas a week from Wednesday in the murder of his ex-girlfriend’s new lover.
32-year-old William Vollbrecht of rural Cadott was ordered this week to stand trial on felony charges of homicide, armed burglary, and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.
Prosecutors said Vollbrecht shot and killed 41-year-old Christopher Farmer at the victim’s home on May 13th while he and Tammy Clark were sleeping. Authorities said Vollbrecht wanted to get back together with Clark, but she was seeing Farmer at the time and wasn’t interested.
On the night of the murder, officials said Vollbrecht first went to the woman’s home and fired a shot that was apparently meant to scare Clark – even though she was not there. Prosecutors said Vollbrecht then went to Farmer’s house, entered the home, saw the couple sleeping, and shot the man in the neck.
