For the second straight night, Detroit pitching was roughed up in Texas for 11 runs with the Rangers beating the Tigers last night 11-to-7 to sweep the brief two game series. Armando Galarraga was tagged for eight hits and eight runs in just three and two thirds frames to fall to 4-and-6 with the loss. Ryan Raburn went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI’s for Detroit.
Texas has won 7 straight to increase its West Division lead to ten games over the second place A’s. The Tigers have the day off today before starting a 3-game series tomorrow night against the White Sox in Chicago.
The White Sox last night lost again to Central Division leading Minnesota 9-to-3 and the visiting Twins now lead Chicago by eight games.
And the Cubs last night beat the Cardinals 7-to-3 for their first 3 game sweep at St. Louis since 1988.
