A city councilman will host a focus group and viewing party for the debut of the network television crime drama "Detroit 1-8-7." Councilman Andre Spivey says he hopes Tuesday's event will spur candid talk about the show, which has some concerned it will play on Detroit's already poor national image. Students at Central High School also will view the ABC show for homework and discuss it Wednesday with Spivey in class. The viewing party is planned at a Detroit home. "Detroit 1-8-7" debuts at 10 p.m. and the production crew has set up shop full-time in Detroit. It features fictional members of a Detroit homicide squad. Actors and creators say they'll show the city's grit as well as its heart.
