WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – A Wausau man accused of kidnapping a woman last weekend so he could collect a $290 debt from her husband has had a preliminary hearing delayed.
Prosecutors say Christian Devine qualifies for a public defender, but one had not been assigned to him at this time.
According to a criminal complaint, Devine and Jamie Zdonavec grabbed Tanya Boettcher last Saturday and forced her in a car. They drove around the Wausau metro area for about 40 minutes before police found Boettcher outside Devine’s mother’s house.
Judge Jill Falstad moved Devine’s preliminary hearing to next Monday to stay within time limits for the hearing, and directed the public defender’s office to get in contact with Devine.
