BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WTAQ) - Authorities say they’ve solved the 1989 murder of a nine-year-old girl near Black River Falls – and the person who did it is now dead.
Jennifer Wesho was killed in a Ho-Chunk tribal community about five miles east of Black River Falls. A man from Saint Paul was arrested in 1991 – but his homicide charge was dropped, and he was freed after 22 days in custody.
Now, Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox says there’s been a major change in the status of the case. And authorities believe they know all they possibly can about what happened.
More details will come out at a news conference tomorrow, and Fox says he’ll brief the girl’s family before speaking to reporters.
Her father found Jennifer’s body in a wooded area. She was beaten, burned, and partially clothed.
