WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A proposal to turn the Wausau Federal Building into artist-style loft apartments received the state tax credits that the developer said were necessary for the project to move forward. St. Paul-based MetroPlains was approved for $350,000 in state credits.

The plan would create 21 apartments and public exhibit space. An agreement between the developer and the city was contingent on getting state assistance.

Two other housing projects were also approved for state tax credits. They are the Riverview Towers Apartments on Grand Avenue in Wausau and the Indianhead Cottages project, adjacent to the golf course, in Mosinee.
