WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A Milwaukee man was found guilty of kidnapping, human trafficking, and prostitution charges in Marathon County court. 38-year-old Derrick Thornton was holding a woman against her will, and driving her to hotels in several cities to perform sex-acts for money.
A witness went to police after seeing Thornton beat the woman. The woman was able get to a cellphone while she was in Wausau and called her sister for help. She notified police.
Thornton's defense lawyer argued the woman offered herself as a prostitute voluntarily.
A Marathon County jury deliberated for about four hours yesterday before returning a guilty verdict. Thornton could face up to 46-years in prison when he's sentenced.
