WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – You can weigh in today on a plan to raise bus fares in Wausau next year.
The transit commission holds a public hearing at 1 p.m. at the public safety building at the corner of Grand and Thomas Streets.
The commission is looking at a plan that would raise fares 20 to 25 percent, transit director Greg Seubert has said. That would increase the standard adult fare from $1.25 to $1.50
Commissioners could approve the rate hike immediately after the hearing.
The commission will also consider bids for paratransit service. The move comes after Abby Van backed out of providing Medicare and Medicaid transport services earlier this year. The Metro Ride system is considering the possibility of handling paratransit service in-house.
