WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) – Wausau's transit staff will try to piece together a viable route for the southern Metro over the next week or so.
That's the vote today from the transit commission which approved a possible route for the Schofield and Weston area for 2012. What sort of route is available would depend on funding gathered from groups. There's still 25-thousand dollars in funding in the Schofield city budget, and mayor Ken Fabel says some route is preferable to no route.
Transit director Greg Seubert says his staff will have to look at what funding does come in. “We haven't gotten anything concrete from NAOMI yet.” He says the group's current goal of around 60-thousand dollars wouldn't be enough at this point to cover a 5 day a week hourly route into Weston.
Staff will take the next week or so to go over their options with what funding is available and make a final decision at that point.
