JEFFERSON COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - The 1980 murders of two young Jefferson County lovers will be featured on a cable TV show next year.
The Discovery Channel spent a week in the area this fall, filming an episode of the show “Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets.”
The program will focus on the slayings of Tim Hack and Kelly Drew. Both were 19 when they vanished after leaving a wedding reception.
Squirrel hunters found their remains two-and-a-half months later about 8 miles from where they disappeared.
The case remained dormant for almost 30 years, when the daughter of Edward Edwards saw an Internet report about the murders and tipped off authorities. Edwards’ DNA was found on Drew’s pants – and he was arrested in 2009.
By then, he had written a book about his life as a career criminal. And Edwards – then well into his 70’s – admitted not only to the killings of Hack and Drew, but also two other slayings in Ohio.
Edwards was later sentenced to death for yet another murder, that of his foster son in 1996.
But before he could receive his lethal injection, Edwards died from natural causes in April of this year at a prison medical center in Columbus Ohio.
